SUBSCRIPTION MANAGEMENT

Manage your MacShield subscription

You can manage or cancel your MacShield subscription through the secure subscription management portal.

Cancelling your subscription prevents it from renewing for another billing period. Your existing access will normally continue until the end of the period you have already paid for, subject to your statutory rights.

01 · PRIVACY POLICY

Privacy by design.

MacShield is designed to process only the information reasonably necessary to provide, maintain, secure and validate the service. We believe security software should protect your device without unnecessarily monitoring you. MacShield does not sell your personal information and is not designed to continuously track your physical location. Where technically possible, protection related device events are intended to be processed locally on your Mac rather than used to create a history of your activity. Certain information may nevertheless need to be processed for account administration, purchases, subscription management, licensing, activation, security, customer support and the operation of the service. Our approach is to minimise the information processed and use it only for legitimate purposes connected with providing and operating MacShield.

02 · INFORMATION WE PROCESS

Only what MacShield needs.

Depending on how you purchase, activate or use MacShield, information processed may include your email address and basic customer information, licence or activation key, licence and subscription status, limited device information required to enforce your plan, installed version and limited technical information for compatibility or troubleshooting, support information you provide and transaction information from payment or subscription providers. Protection signals such as power disconnection or lid closure while protection is armed are intended to be processed locally on the device where technically possible. MacShield does not intentionally access the contents of your documents, photographs, messages, browsing history or other personal files as part of its theft deterrence functionality. MacShield is not designed to continuously monitor or record your physical location.

03 · HOW WE USE INFORMATION

Why we process information.

MacShield processes information only where there is an appropriate reason to do so. Purchase, subscription, licensing and activation information may be processed where necessary to provide the service and fulfil our agreement with you. Limited information may also be processed for legitimate interests such as maintaining reliability, preventing fraudulent or unauthorised licence use, protecting the service and providing customer support. Information may also be processed where necessary to comply with applicable legal obligations. Where processing relies upon your consent, you may withdraw that consent where applicable. MacShield does not sell personal information to advertisers or use protection related information for unrelated advertising profiles.

04 · DATA RETENTION

Keeping information only as long as necessary.

MacShield retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. This may include administering your subscription, maintaining licensing and transaction records, responding to support requests, resolving disputes, preventing fraud or abuse and meeting applicable legal, tax or accounting requirements. Different categories of information may therefore be retained for different periods. Where information is no longer reasonably required, it will be deleted, anonymised or otherwise handled in accordance with applicable requirements.

05 · THIRD PARTY SERVICES

Services that help MacShield operate.

MacShield may use trusted third party service providers to perform functions necessary to operate the service. These functions may include payment processing, subscription management, software licensing, website hosting, email delivery and supporting infrastructure. Those providers may process limited personal information where necessary to provide their respective services. Some providers may act as independent controllers of certain information, in which case their own privacy policies and terms may also apply. MacShield will update this policy as the final production services and providers are confirmed.

06 · YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS

Your information. Your rights.

Depending on applicable data protection law and the circumstances, you may have rights in relation to your personal information. These may include the right to request access, correction, deletion in certain circumstances, restriction of processing, objection to certain processing and portability of certain information. Where processing is based upon consent, you may also withdraw that consent. To exercise a privacy right or ask a question about your information, contact MacShield at nkelson7@gmail.com. We may need reasonable information to verify your identity. If you remain concerned, you may also have the right to make a complaint to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

07 · COOKIES AND WEBSITE TECHNOLOGIES

A straightforward approach to cookies.

The MacShield website may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for the website and services to operate correctly. Where MacShield uses optional analytics, advertising or other non essential technologies, appropriate information and choices will be provided where required by applicable law. MacShield will not describe optional technologies as strictly necessary where they are not required for the operation of the website or service. The technologies used by the production website may change as MacShield develops, and this policy will be updated where appropriate to reflect material changes.

08 · PAYMENTS AND LICENSING

Simple subscriptions. Secure licensing.

MacShield may use trusted third party providers to process payments, manage subscriptions and provide software licensing infrastructure. These providers may process information required to complete and administer your purchase, including your name, email address, billing information, payment information, transaction details and subscription status. Where payments are handled by an external provider, MacShield does not need to directly store your complete payment card details. After purchasing an eligible plan, you may receive a unique licence or activation key. Licence keys must not be publicly shared, resold or distributed except where expressly permitted by the applicable plan.

09 · TERMS OF USE

Using MacShield.

By purchasing, downloading, activating or using MacShield, you agree to use the software lawfully and in accordance with these terms and policies. A valid subscription grants you a limited, revocable, non exclusive and non transferable licence to use the software for the duration of your valid subscription, subject to the conditions and device limits of your selected plan. This licence gives you permission to use MacShield but does not transfer ownership of the software or its underlying intellectual property. Unless permitted by applicable law, you must not redistribute or resell MacShield, publicly distribute licence keys, deliberately circumvent subscription restrictions or use the software for unlawful purposes. MacShield may receive updates, bug fixes, security improvements and feature changes over time.

10 · SUBSCRIPTIONS AND CANCELLATION

Your subscription. Your choice.

MacShield may offer monthly and annual subscription plans. Unless otherwise stated at purchase, subscriptions automatically renew at the applicable price until cancelled. You can cancel automatic renewal at any time. Cancelling means you will not be charged for another billing period after cancellation takes effect. Unless otherwise stated or required by law, your existing subscription will normally remain active until the end of the billing period already paid for. When that period ends, the associated licence may expire and subscription functionality may become unavailable. Cancellation does not affect statutory cancellation, refund or other consumer rights that may apply.

Manage your active subscription, billing details and cancellation through our secure subscription portal.

11 · REFUNDS

Refund policy.

Payments already made are generally non refundable except where a refund is required by applicable law or where MacShield determines that a refund is appropriate in the circumstances. Cancelling a subscription does not normally provide a prorated refund for unused time remaining within a billing period already paid for. If you believe you have been charged incorrectly, experience a significant technical issue or believe exceptional circumstances justify a refund, please contact MacShield Support. Refund requests may be reviewed individually. Nothing in this refund policy excludes, restricts or replaces any statutory consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

12 · SECURITY AND DEVICE PROCESSING

Protection without unnecessary tracking.

MacShield is designed around a simple principle: protection related processing should take place on your Mac wherever reasonably possible. When protection is armed, the application may monitor specific device events required to provide enabled features. These may include power disconnection and lid closure. These signals are used to determine whether an enabled MacShield response should be triggered. MacShield does not require access to the contents of your personal files simply to provide these detection features. No software can provide absolute security, and you should continue to take reasonable precautions to protect your device, accounts and personal information.

13 · IMPORTANT PROTECTION DISCLAIMER

An additional layer of protection. Not a guarantee.

MacShield is designed to provide an additional layer of theft deterrence and device protection. MacShield does not guarantee that a Mac, MacBook or other device cannot be stolen, lost, accessed, damaged or otherwise compromised. Alarm, detection and deterrence functionality may be affected by circumstances outside MacShield’s reasonable control, including device state, battery level, system permissions, operating system behaviour, hardware configuration, software compatibility and actions taken by another person. MacShield should be used alongside sensible physical security precautions and responsible device security practices.

14 · LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Using MacShield responsibly.

MacShield is provided as an additional software based security and deterrence tool and cannot eliminate every risk associated with theft, loss, damage or unauthorised access. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MacShield is not responsible for losses caused solely by circumstances outside its reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or limits statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded, restricted or limited.

15 · INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Built by MacShield. Licensed to you.

The MacShield name, branding, visual identity, website, software, original designs and other original MacShield materials may be protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Purchasing a subscription gives you permission to use the software in accordance with the applicable licence. It does not transfer ownership of the MacShield software, source code, branding or other intellectual property to you. Third party names, trademarks and products referenced by MacShield remain the property of their respective owners. MacShield is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Apple Inc. Apple, Mac and MacBook are trademarks of Apple Inc.

16 · CHANGES TO MACSHIELD AND THESE POLICIES

Keeping things current.

MacShield may update these policies from time to time to reflect changes to the product, service, technology, providers or applicable requirements. Where material changes are made, the revised policy and updated revision date will be published on this page. Where required by applicable law, additional notice or consent will be provided before a material change takes effect.
